Cookie Contemplation...

I think for the cookie buffet I'm making chocolate chip, sugar, peanut butter, sugar plums, lemon & strawberry coolers and then I'm considering these tasty treats... nutter butter balls. I saw these on Bakerella, and I love how easy they are. Plus, I could do the same with Oreo's (Scott's favorite cookie). What do you guys think? Do you have any other suggestions. How many kinds do you think I need, and how many of each kind? I'll take any suggestions you've got.

  1. The new cookies look yummy. Not sure I personally would eat any with how my stomach has been acting with peanut butter recently, though. (So don't be upset/surprised if I don't try any of them.) If you want something similar to Oreos I know I have seen something like this before at a food day at work. They took like cream cheese & stuff and covered it with the oreo crumbs or something. Super rich. Not sure if that is what you were thinking of or not, we could probably find a recipe online really easily if so.

I think you would probably have plenty of variety with what you are thinking (even without the new option). As for the amount of each kind, I'm not sure. How big are the containers you are giving people to use? Do you have any ideas what kind of cookies people like best? It seems to me like chocolate chip would probably be the most popular, so you might want to make extra of those.

Other than that, I would think if you tried to have 1 per person of the larger cookies (chocolate chip, sugar, & peanut butter) and 2 per person of the smaller cookies (the rest) you should be fine. And by fine I mean you will probably have a ton left over. After all, a lot of people will probably either take only one or two or none. Some people (aka, me) will want to try one of each, and some will take multiples of one kind and none of the others.

You also might want to consider the cost of the supplies, how much time you need to make the cookies, and how far in advance you can make them. Seems like sugar plums will be fairly expensive & time consuming (not sure since I've never made them.) So, one per person would probably be fine even though they are smaller (same would be true for these nutter butter cookies). You could always make more of some of the cheaper/easier cookies to compensate. Also, place any cookies you might be concerned about people taking too many of at the end of the cookie bar. By the time they get there their bags will be full of other cookies so they will be less likely to take as many. ;)

  2. Here is a recipe for those "Oreo Balls". I know it doesn't sound appealing, but people seem to love them. :)
