32 weeks = bigger pants

10:43 AM

I've now got 32 weeks of pregnancy under my belt, and as a result, my maternity pants that I bought at the beginning of my pregnancy no longer fit. I was kind of horrified to realize that I had to go out and buy pants...again. I know, I got lucky that I'd made it this far with 2 pairs, which subsequently became 1 pair. Thank goodness for Old Navy and their maternity jeans that are actually made like real jeans. If I had to try to find a fit in a M or L pair of jeans, I'd prob. rip someone's head off. I've been a little moody lately. Now I have pants with a fair amount of room for extra comfy-ness during these last 2 months. BTW, why do they always say pregnancy is 9 months when it is really 10? That bothers me. You get to the end of 8 months and still have another 8 weeks to go!
I'm working on making a list of all the little and big things I need to get done before Aidan actually shows up. I feel like my time is quickly getting away from me. Luckily the husband and basically jumped on the band wagon as far as getting things done. The nursery is basically painted, minus one squirrel, and the upstairs bathroom has tile floor instead of carpet. Thank you Lord! Now I just need to get things washed and put where I want them for my munchkin and have my shower, then figure out all the other stuff that I'll need to get him. I'm very much looking forward to the day I finally get to meet him and hold him though. At least the thought that he is getting bigger makes up for the fact that I need bigger pants.

Nursery thus far and me!

I am loving the cuteness overload of my babies' room. It is all slowly coming together, even though I don't have anything for the walls just yet, besides a calendar. We'll see what I can come up with in the weeks ahead. Tomorrow is 24 weeks for me and while I'm super excited, I almost wish it was farther along. It just feels like such a long time till I get to meet my little Aidan. I'm hoping he likes his room. I know the cat does. We've been keeping the door closed to keep her out. She thinks all the new toys are for her!

Registering...not the nightmare I was expecting

8:55 AM

I got my baby registering done and I'm quite pleased at how much smoother it went then I was expecting. That may be because I took my mother instead of my husband, so it was much more educational than tiring. It was nice not having to wrangle in a 5-year-old trapped in a 26-year-old's body. So my companies of choice were Target and the Land of Nod. The Target registry is the "real" one, because it is all the things I really will need. The Land of Nod, however, is the fun one, with all the stuff I don't really need, I just think is cool and would never pay for myself. (Sorry Land of Nod). I'm hoping I covered all the basis and all the price ranges. I'm also hoping that not to many people veer off the registry path if they opt to give a gift, because I don't really want to have to go back and buy all the things I need one month before the little man arrives. But that's up to the family and friends. We'll see how it goes.

Baby shower theme - Little Bird

8:50 AM

We have a winner on the baby shower theme search. My mom loved the little bird idea, plus it goes with the theme of Aidan's nursery (even if the colors are different). But it's gonna be super cute I'm sure. I made the invites (re-creating a bird image I found online that I LOVED) and adding my own splashes to the text and colors. But I'm sure I'll be out of it from here on out... maybe.

Baby Shower planning...

12:57 PM

So my bestie Melissa is also expecting (coming in Jan.) and I don't want her stressing about throwing a shower when she's got more important things on her plate now, so I've convinced her to let my mom throw/host the shower with a little help from my siblings and my mother-in-law & step mother-in-law. Now on to the difficult decision...what should the theme be? I know, I don't need to be the slightest bit involved in my own baby shower, and I have every intention of not being...for the most part. I can't help but throw in my ideas to get the ball rolling (my mom procrastinates) and I'll most likely be designing my own invitations (it's kind of my thing) so I have to have a little involvement. But then I'm out of it. I swear.

So the three themes that I LOVE are:

Cravings, Baby Bird, & Owls.

BTW: how perfect is the little diaper cake with the name Aidan on it?

So anyone have a favorite?

Gender Revealed!

12:54 PM

It's a Boy! We've decided to go with the name Aidan James for our little guy and I couldn't be more thrilled. He is a kicker, which I love and he seems to really enjoy 80's rock, and musicals. He is sooo my kid.

Nursery ideas

1:14 PM

So, now that everyone knows about the kid growing in me, I can talk about all the stuff I've been trying to think about since I found out. Number one, the nursery. We've (I've) decided to go with a bird bedding set for either a boy or a girl. Little Tree by Migi (Bananafish) for a boy, and Love Bird by Bananafish for a girl. Here are the samples of the boys room and girls room. S is quite strict about the fact that a boy can't have white furniture and a girl can't have dark brown. What can I say, I married a traditionalist. I'm just pleased that he seems to be taking an interest in the nursery at all.

Shame on me...

1:03 PM

I've been very, very bad about updating my blog, I know. I owe the world an explanation. After Halloween, the wonderful world of Ty got very complicated with holidays and then S's grandma getting cancer (brain cancer). It was a very sad and rough holiday season to say the least, but with every sad tiding comes those of hope and joy. The other reason I've been so bad about blogging...I'm expecting my own bundle of joy in October! I know, it hasn't been that long since S and I tied the knot, actually, it'll be one year at the end of the month, but who can wait when it comes to adding more joy and love to a family! More fun baby stuff to come in the future, as long as I don't get distracted!
